At the end of the Africities, the Assembly of Mayors and Leaders of Subnational and Local Authorities in Africa has drawn up several recommendations useful for implementing The implementation of the decentralization policy within the African continent.

The Assembly of Mayors gave its full support to the establishment of the African Territorial Agency, the ad hoc entity aimed at facilitating access for cities and African territories on the capital market. The participants recommended that the triennial report on the favourable institutional environment created by local and regional authorities for cities and towns and local authorities serve as the basis for an ongoing dialogue between the central State and local authorities and regional reports on the implementation of the decentralization policy.

The Mayors Assembly recommended that a mechanism be set up to encourage the participation of local authorities in regional economic dynamics. The Assembly also recommended that all regional economic communities define decentralized cross-border cooperation programmes for cities and territories.
