Ahmed Abdelkefi won the 2020 African Banker Exemplary Career Trophy yesterday. He is the only Tunisian on the list of laureates.

Ahmed Abdelkefi, winner of African Banker 2020, is a Tunisian economist and businessman specializing in the financial sector. A pioneer in the launch of new financial products on the Tunisian market, he launched, in 1984, Tunisie Leasing, the first leasing company in Tunisia.

Then, he created Tunisie Valeurs in 1991, the first intermediary on the Tunisian stock exchange. In 1993, he created Tunisie Factoring, a Tunisian pioneer of factoring companies. A year later, Mr. Abdelkefi created Tuninvest Finance Group (TFG). First Tunisian company specialized in private equity. In 2005, he created Tunisie LLD, the first company specializing in fleet management.

The 2020 edition of African Banker rewarded some twenty African institutions and personalities.

  • Deal of the Year – Debt: €1 billion syndicated loan facility by Bank of Industry – Bank of Industry / Afreximbank / Credit Suisse;
  • Deal of the Year – Infrastructure: Port of Maputo – Standard Bank;
  • Energy Project of the Year: Renewable Energy Bond – Nedbank;
  • Agricultural Project of the Year: Olam Rice Farm – Access Bank;

–        West Africa: Coris Bank;

–        North Africa: IBC, Egypt;
