At the end of the first half of the year on June 30, 2022, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) announced that good management of operating and non-core business transactions has increased its profits.

The group announced a 24% to 28% increase in profit before tax to N108.96 billion or $136.23 million from N85.32 billion or $109.76 million. The group generated net revenues that increased by 10% or 23% at constant exchange rates to $910 million. The increase in revenues was primarily due to a 13% growth in non-interest income and an 8% growth in net interest income.

ETI's net interest income (NII) was $493 million, up 8%, or 21% on a constant currency basis, and benefited from higher interest rates, as several central banks increased benchmark interest rates to curb inflationary pressures. As a result, the net interest margin (NIM) increased by seven basis points to 5.1% in the first half of 2022.
