The NGO, Hacey Health Initiative (HHI), an Access Bank partner, strengthened the capacity of 57 adolescents in Borno State to become advocates and champions of GBV. This training workshop took place as part of activities marking the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

The capacities of 21 boys and 36 girls were strengthened during the training on the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence, which is an advocacy effort to promote awareness to combat gender-based violence in the State. These young people also learned about the nature, types, and classification of GBV based on local examples, visual aids, and illustrations to improve their understanding of the messages.

GBV is one of the most oppressive forms of gender inequality, HHI Borno State coordinator Musa Gambo said at the event. According to him, it poses a fundamental obstacle to equal opportunities for the participation of women, girls and men in the social, economic and political spheres of life.
