Development approved financing of 15 billion CFA francs, or 22.9
millions of euros. This loan is intended to strengthen and extend access to electricity
in Côte d'Ivoire, according to local media.

The ADB is intended to support the 2nd phase of the Electricity Programme
for All (PEPT) implemented in Côte d'Ivoire, this envelope includes 16
million euros from the ADB and 6.9 million euros from the Energy Fund
Sustainable in Africa (SEFA) according to the information. It scores the first
subscription by the said Bank to a social bond in local currency, in
the area of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), and
will make it possible to create some 400,000 new electricity connections
over the period 2025-2026, for the benefit of 2.2 million people, including 35%
live in rural areas in Côte d'Ivoire. For Kevin Kariuki,
Vice President of the ADB Group in charge of Electricity, Energy,
Climate and Green Growth, “this innovative bond structure
illustrates how the Bank deploys solutions for
creative financing to achieve universal access to energy.”
