109 deputies of the 9th legislature of Benin took office on Sunday, February 12, 2024 at the Palace of Governors in Porto-Novo. As soon as they took office, the deputies elected Louis Vlavonou on the list of UP le Renouveau to the post of President of the National Assembly.

The parliamentary elections page has been turned, the deputies are now at work. Officially installed in office last Sunday, the 109 deputies of the 9th legislature of Benin urged themselves, in the words of the oldest member of the Bureau of the National Assembly of Benin, Barthélémy Cossi Mellon Vidjinnangni, to resolutely get down to work and place the general interest of the population at the heart of their actions in all circumstances. According to him, the mission over the next three years is not only to represent the Beninese people but also the legislative power and to monitor government action.

Noted that Louis Vlavonou has been re-elected President of the National Assembly. The former customs officer had the confidence of his peers to continue his mission as President of the National Assembly. The vote ended with 77 votes in favor against 30 votes for Viviane OrouTama of the Democratic Party. He will have at his side in his mission a First Vice-President, a Second Vice-President, a first Quaestor, a second Quaestor, a first Parliamentary Secretary and a second Parliamentary Secretary.
