) Trade between France and Côte d'Ivoire is marked by
heavy imports from France, implying trade deficits of
52.91 billion CFA francs and 27.836 billion CFA francs recorded respectively in 2017 and 2018.
This fall in the volume of trade in 2018 is mainly due to the drop in Ivorian imports
over the same period (119.700 billion FCFA in 2017 against 91.141 billion FCFA in 2018), indicates
an official note.
For the construction of a market in Bouaké and Yopougon (west of Abidjan), an agreement was signed
between Paris and Abidjan. This should make it possible to rebuild a large market in Bouaké and to carry out
development of the entire market area (39.36 billion FCFA).
The construction of a modern semi-wholesale and retail market in Yopougon, in the west of Abidjan, should
benefit from financing of 19.68 billion FCFA. France provides support to the State of Côte d'Ivoire.
Support for the education sector amounts to 328 billion FCFA.
Mr. Emmanuel Macron's last visit to Côte d'Ivoire dates back to the 5th African Union-Union Summit
(AU-EU) which took place in Abidjan from 28 to 29 November 2017.
