Afriland First Group plans to rely on its Cameroonian subsidiary to settle in Congo, Chad and the Central African Republic after nearly two years of leaving Equatorial Guinea. However, it has not yet decided on the form of its settlements.

A delegation from Afriland First Group (AFG) visited N'Djamena and Brazzaville to discuss the group's plans to set up in their respective countries. This delegation was led by Célestin Guela Simo, at the second time of Afriland First Bank (AFB) Cameroon. The finance ministers of the various countries are directly affected during the visit.

Note that Afriland First Bank is only present in Cameroon. It was withdrawn in January 2021 from Equatorial Guinea and targets Congo, Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR), without disclosing whether this expansion will take place through acquisitions or through the creation of establishments.

The political and security situation in the CAR and Chad seems to be less worrying too much within the group. Maurice Simo Djom, AFG's director of communications and public relations, says that “Nearly 67% of Africans live in a country marred by conflict. Should we abandon our continent for this reason? Our vision is to be and remain the African bank of the millennium.”

According to Maurice Simo Djom “This is not a refocusing; our African ambition is intact. AFB participates in several projects to finance the economies of other countries of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC). It is therefore normal for its managers to be closer to the projects and customers financed to ensure the smooth running of its operations in these countries.”
