During a presentation of the tax annex to the 2022 finance law, the director general of taxes, Abou Sié Ouattara, indicated on Friday in Abidjan that the tax burden in Côte d'Ivoire is estimated at 12%.

“The rate of tax pressure in Côte d'Ivoire is one of the lowest in UEMOA, the accepted standard is 18%; we are at 12%”, informed Abou Sié Ouattara. To improve the rate of tax pressure, the general direction of the taxes of Côte d'Ivoire, wants "to carry out a better distribution of the tax burden" thanks to an enlargement of the tax base. Ivorian economic growth stood at 6.5% in 2021 against nearly 2% in 2020, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The country intends to take advantage of the upturn in the global economy this year to sustainably boost its growth, forecasting a rate of 7.4% in 2022.
