Manufacturers in the oilseed industry of the Uemoa-ECOWAS space celebrated the 25th anniversary of their organization. At their ordinary general meeting held on Friday 28 November at In Cotonou, an inventory of the persistent challenges was drawn up with new directions in the sector.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Livestock Fishing, Gaston Dossouhoui, welcomed the constant commitment of the Association manufacturers in the oilseed sector for 25 years. According to him, the AIFO's actions are fully in line with the spirit of the UEMOA Treaty and The 2050 vision of la ECOWAS , especially in terms of economic integration, of standardization of food production and fortification. For the Minister, the nutritional challenges of the region require a strengthening of quality control and rigorous governance of the regional logo of fortification, which has become a symbol of quality assurance.

On the program, summary of actions, projection strategy, advocacy for better regional competitiveness and signature of a memorandum with the international NGO Gain to strengthen fortification food. Antoine Turpin, managing director of the Société des Huileries du Benin (Shb), recalled the historical importance of the organization. In believe, “this session has a very particular sound, it marks the 25th anniversary of the creation of AIFO, a quarter of a century of commitment, of regional solidarity, of hard work to structure and defend the oilseed sector in the Uemoa-ECOWAS region”.
