On 4 August 2025, the African Development Bank Group and the Congolese Ministry of Economy signed a grant agreement in the amount of 602,000 US dollars (380 million CFA francs) in Brazzaville. This amount is intended to support the operation to rebase the country's national accounts

The Congolese Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Integration, Ludovic Ngatsé, Governor of the Bank for the Republic of Congo and the Director General of the African Development Bank Group for Central Africa, and the Director General of the African Development Bank Group for Central Africa, Léandre Bassolé, signed the agreement. The national accounts rebasing project includes developing a new base year for national accounts, in order to replace the current one, which dates from 2005. It will be a question of a complete revision of the basis for calculating national economic indicators to reflect more accurately the real evolution of the economy. According to Ludovic Ngatsé, “this project aims to ensure that Congo's GDP is valued at its fair value. This will lead to significant changes.”

Once completed, the rebasing will likely allow a significant upward revision of the country's nominal GDP, which will have the effect of mechanically reducing the debt/GDP and deficit/GDP ratios, which are key indicators for assessing the sustainability of a country's debt.
