Due to trade and fiscal uncertainty, the dollar is on the verge of a fifth consecutive monthly decline, while the South African rand maintains its gains. The Indian rupee is expected to rise at the open.

The U.S. dollar weakened on Friday, heading for its fifth consecutive monthly decline as traders prepared for new periods of uncertainty around trade and fiscal health, while investors awaited a crucial inflation report later in the day ; and. The greenback had a tumultuous week, ending lower in the previous session after a federal court temporarily reinstated President Donald Trump's most radical tariffs, a day after a separate commercial court ordered an immediate freeze on the

tariffs.

The South African rand retained most of the gains recorded the day before during initial trading on Friday, after the central bank reaffirmed its strong preference for a lower inflation target during its latest monetary policy announcement. The Indian rupee is expected to open higher on Friday, after the US dollar rally, triggered by a US court ruling on tariff policy, proved to be short-lived. The 1-month undeliverable futures contract indicated an opening in the range 85.36-85.40, compared to a close the previous session at 85.5075. So far this week, the Indian currency is in the range of 84.78 to 85.70 and is on track for a

slight weekly decline.
