On Thursday, March 18, 2024, the Ghanaian and Ivorian authorities inaugurated the headquarters of the Executive Secretariat of the Cocoa Côte d'Ivoire-Ghana Initiative (LCCiG) in Accra, Ghana.

The inauguration of the LCCiG in Accra, Ghana, aims to build a dynamic cocoa sector to guarantee the incomes of cocoa farmers in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire produce 65% of the world's cocoa, and the initiative should initiate a dynamic cocoa sector and guarantee the income of cocoa farmers.

The main objectives of this Initiative are, among others, to achieve remunerative prices and to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers, to process, promote and improve the consumption and use of cocoa to promote and defend the 39; common interest of member countries in the international cocoa market and in all relevant international forums.

The initiative will also contribute to the protection of forests and biodiversity, and to be exemplary in terms of fundamental social and human rights.
