The insurance industry regulator, the National Insurance Commission (NIC) has seen 98% of Ghanaian insurers comply with its minimum capital requirements since 2019. Moses Ackah-Jayne, head of marketing and external relations at NIC, who was speaking in the town of Kumasi on May 25 during a program to raise awareness about insurance policies among informal sector actors, gave this percentage. Moses Ackah-Jayne indicates that “most insurance companies have met regulatory capital requirements. A few more details are still being discussed.”
