While for a few days in the sub-regional banking community there have been strangely scattered rumors pointing in the direction of a rate of 7%, it has come to us, according to sources close to the BCEAO, that the Governor, after long working sessions with his closest collaborators, took the decision to grant additional resources to the banks at a single rate of 2.5%, which has been the BCEAO's key rate since 2013.

This rate should therefore enable WAEMU banks to lower customer loan rates.

This fall should also have repercussions on State operations.

However, before the official announcement of this decision by the Governor, the Ivorian Tiemoko Meyliet Koné, the Central Bank would like, it seems, to ensure that this objective will be achieved.
