Algeria has officially initiated procedures in order to the termination of the air services agreement between it and the Emirates United Arabs (UAE). This bilateral agreement, signed in Abu Dhabi on 13 May 2013, had been ratified by presidential decree on 30 December 2014.

The decision marks a turning point in airline relationships between the two countries, while this legal framework has governed for more than a decade the exploitation of air links and traffic rights between Algerian and Emirati companies.

In accordance with the provisions set out in article 22 of the agreement, the denunciation must be notified by diplomatic channels to the party emirate. This process is accompanied by a simultaneous notification to the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in order to allow the completion of the required formalities with the UN organization.
