Local media reported that seven people, including Burkinabe customs officers and gendarmes, were brought to prison as part of investigations into fuel trafficking for the benefit of armed terrorist groups.
In September 2021, an investigation into the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing had led to the arrest and detention of 72 people who were engaged in fuel trafficking in certain regions of Burkina Faso where armed terrorist groups are active.
This time, it was the customs officers and a gendarme placed Saturday under warrant of deposit at the House of Arrét and Correction of Ouagadougou (MACO), in the case of fuel smuggling.
