In a statement released on Sunday 1st February 2026, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited announced that it had begun maintenance and repairs on the floating production, storage and unloading vessel Bonga.

The Shell Nigeria Company Exploration and Production Company Limited indicated that the transaction of maintenance was a regulatory and integrity assurance program aimed at to extend the life of the installation and that the FSPO would resume its activities in March. For Ronald Adams, CEO of SNepCo, “the scheduled maintenance work aims to ensure safe operation and effective FPSO for the next 15 years, while reducing carryovers unexpected events and by strengthening the overall resilience of the installation. We expect operations to resume in March, once the technical shutdown over”.
