Investment Promotion Agency (APIM) held on March 25, 2026, in Nouakchott, the
African Development Bank Group announced a strengthening of its support for the
Mauritanian private sector.
The AfDB's objective is to better familiarize local
economic actors with its financing instruments. The African Development Bank
Group's strategy for the development of the continent's private sector is based
on three pillars: improving the business environment, developing quality
infrastructure, and strengthening business capacities.
The Bank Group already supports APIM by providing technical assistance. It
supports public-private partnerships and finances structuring projects such as
the Rosso Bridge and the Mauritania-Mali Electrical Interconnection Project,
while also carrying out several operations in favor of the National Industrial
and Mining Company (SNIM) and commercial banks.
The Director General of the Mauritanian Investment
Promotion Agency, Tah Ahmed Meouloud, emphasized that the workshop would help
Mauritanian private actors better understand the procedures for accessing the
Bank Group's financing instruments.
The Bank Group took
advantage of this workshop to consult the Mauritanian private sector to prepare
its future regional integration strategy for North Africa. The discussions
helped identify the priorities of the private sector to better position them in
regional and continental markets, in a context where economic integration is a
key lever for competitiveness and industrialization.
