On Sunday, February 1, 2026, the economist Senegalese Baba Malick Ba has taken up his new position at the Bank ECOWAS Investment and Development Center (BIDC). It will charge now under the supervision of Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Senegal, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde and Guinea.

Senegalese economist Baba Malick Ba is a seasoned financial professional with extensive experience in public and private sectors, in various areas: risk management, project financing, banking, capital markets, financing of exports, credit analysis, portfolio management, financial markets and public-private partnerships.

In her new role at BIDC, it will support the Bank's regional operations, strengthen partnerships and will advance the mission of the BIDC in favor of sustainable economic development in the ECOWAS region. It will be based in Bank regional office in Abidjan.

Noted that Ba has also held various positions strategic positions within Canadian public companies (Export and Development Canada and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation) and a worked as a banker for JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America in the United States and in Canada.

He holds an Executive MBA from the University from Quebec to Montreal (Canada) as well as a degree in finance and Franklin University Business Administration in Columbus, Ohio (United States).
