During a meeting dedicated to the National Digital Economy Research Hubs Program, on Tuesday, March 31, in Abuja, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, announced that Nigeria will deploy 1000 new telecom towers across the country by the end of the year.

The National Digital Economy Research Hubs Program is an initiative carried out within the framework of the BRIDGE project, funded by the World Bank. The project primarily targets rural and underserved areas, where access to telecommunication services remains limited. By strengthening network density, the authorities aim to reduce uncovered areas and offer more stable connectivity to local populations and businesses.

Beyond these new installations, the program is part of a more ambitious digital infrastructure expansion plan. It notably includes the deployment of several thousand additional towers as well as the extension of the national fiber optic network. The objective is to build a more robust telecom network, capable of meeting the growing demand for digital services.
