Proparco and Swedfund have jointly invested $45 million in the power producer focused on sub-Saharan Africa, Serengeti Energy. The investment is part of a structured and comprehensive $80 million fund raising to finance energy projects in sub-Saharan Africa.

The resources will be used to increase renewable energy production in sub-Saharan Africa, a region that faces significant energy needs but has limited start-up capital, to finance energy projects. This investment will give Swedfund the opportunity to “support access to reliable and affordable renewable energy in sub-Saharan Africa”, and to Proparco the opportunity to “strengthen its existing renewable energy portfolio with small power plants. hydroelectric and solar power in sub-Saharan Africa.”
