The Brazilian authorities announced on Thursday that production to follow in Brazil reached a historic level in the 2023-2024 season, consolidating the country as the world's leading producer.

Sugar production in Brazil is supported by an unprecedented harvest and favorable global prices. According to the latest report by the National Supply Company (Conab), production rose to 45.7 million tons, an increase of 24%. Brazil reached a record number of foreign sales between April 2023 and March 2024, at 35.2 million tons, an increase of 26.8% compared to the previous season. The Brazilian agricultural giant harvested 713.2 million tons of sugar cane during this season (+16.8%). According to Conab, this result reflects the increase in productivity in the main producing regions, driven both by investments by the sector to renew plantations and by favorable climatic conditions, especially in the state of Sao Paulo (south-east)
