The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last Tuesday held the official commissioning ceremony of the new mega pyramid rice fields. On the occasion, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari announced that the country's rice production had increased to more than 7.5 million tons per year.

Rice production in Nigeria has seen a significant increase from the average production 22 years ago, which was less than 4 million tonnes. According to President Muhammadu Buhari, this increase is estimated at more than 7.5 million tons. A goal achieved through the Anchor Borrowers Program (ABP), an initiative through which the BCN helps local farmers increase their production of 23 agricultural products, including corn, rice, oil palm, cocoa, cotton, cassava, tomato and cattle.
