According to the group, this suspension does not apply to existing partnerships with banking institutions and aims above all to preserve the continuity of the sector, while guaranteeing the provision of financial services under conditions considered safe, balanced and in accordance with the current regulatory framework.
Reacting to this announcement, the Professional Association of Banks of Mauritania (APBM) held to clearly stand out from the decision. She indicated that she had not been associated with this initiative, described as unilateral, taken without consultation prior with banking institutions. The APBM recalled that managers regulations and agreements in force precisely define the role of digital transfer points in withdrawal and deposit transactions.
In this context, Mauritanian banks wanted to reassure citizens and customers, affirming that this suspension will have no impact on the functioning of national digital banking services. They specified that all of bank branches, their branches as well as points of sale will continue to function normally throughout the country. Likewise, the banking applications will remain fully operational, without interruption.
Finally, the banking institutions have reaffirmed their commitment to protect interests of users and to guarantee the fluidity and security of transactions financial. They also underlined their desire to continue the professional coordination with all actors in the sector, in the objective of maintaining the stability of the Mauritanian financial system.
