Oil continued to rise sharply. A barrel of Brent from the North Sea for delivery in February gained around noon 1.49% to 79.75 dollars, while the price of a barrel of American crude WTI at the same maturity took 1.55% to 76.74 dollars. Investors are also awaiting the next summit of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and their allies via the OPEC+ agreement, which will be held on January 4.
