The local government of Katsina State in Nigeria has initiated 71 road projects. It is a state with a strong Hausa dominance, whose low-density road network does not promote the mobility of populations or the flow of production.

According to Works and Housing Commissioner Tasi'u Dandagoro, once the work is complete, Katsina State will have spent a total of about N74 billion (US$181 million) on the construction and rehabilitation of 1,378 kilometers of roads across the state. These works, spread across the 34 local government areas of the state, include both the main roads and the rural services whose linear rehabilitation extends over 461 kilometers.

Tasi'u Dandagoro just regrets that several projects in progress do not have a normal pace of realization due to the security challenges that prevail in the region. This is the case of the current contract for the Kankara-Dansabau road bordering Zamfara State, where the contracting company withdrew for security reasons
