L'or A fell on Friday, the readjustments of commodity indices and the Dollar strength maintaining pressure on prices.

The spot gold price fell by 0.4% at $4,464.57 per ounce at 3:53am GMT, despite a weekly increase expected 3%.

The gold price reached a record of $4,549.71 on December 26.

American gold futures for February deliveries strengthened by 0.3% to $4,473.60.

Prices are expected to come under downward pressure at over the coming days, as the annual rebalancing of the Bloomberg index of raw materials — a periodic adjustment of material weights firsts aimed at maintaining the index in line with the conditions of market — starts this week.

Gold price could reach 5,000 dollars per ounce in the first half of 2026 due to rising risks geopolitics and debt, according to HSBC. Non-profitable assets have tendency to perform well in a context of low interest rates and economic uncertainty.

The cash price lost 0.5% for settled at $76.48 per ounce after reaching an all-time high of 83.62 dollars on December 29.

The white metal was on the way to a rise weekly by more than 5%.

The spot price of platinum fell by 1.8% to $2,227.11 per ounce after reaching a record of 2,478.50 dollars last Monday.

Palladium stayed stable at $1,786.18 per ounce. Both metals should also record weekly earnings.
