Following the mass demonstration held Sunday in the capital of Niger, the country suspended its exports of uranium and gold to France.

Le ministère français des Affaires étrangères indicated that France has suspended its financial support programs in Niger until constitutional order is restored in the African country. According to French media, Niger is the seventh largest producer of uranium in the world and represents between 15% and 17% of the uranium used to produce electricity in France. And the French energy sector continues to receive uranium from other countries despite the current situation in Niger and it is certain of the stability of supply to nuclear power plants in France.
