The pan-African institution, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has just been distinguished by the American magazine Global Finance, specialized in financial markets and investment banking. It is voted "Best Multilateral Financial Institution in the World for 2021".

In a statement on Tuesday, the AfDB said that "this award is a global recognition of the Bank's ongoing efforts to become a solutions bank for Africa."
For its President, Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, this award was "duly deserved" and attributed the Bank's continued success to the strong teamwork of staff in all the countries where it operates.
Recall that in October 2020, the African Development Bank was designated as the institution that was, last year, the best issuer of bonds against the Covid-19 pandemic.
In March 2020, it received the 2020 Environmental Finance Bond Award, SSA category (sovereign, supranational and agency issuer sector). And in February 2021, the financial rating agency S&P Global Ratings confirmed the credit rating of issuers in african development currencies "AAA/A-1+", with a stable outlook.
