Seychelles and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) signed, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, an agreement of funding in the amount of $8.7 million for implementation of a social housing program. The announcement was made by the Presidency Seychellois, specifying that the signature took place on the sidelines of the Summit World of Governments, held in Dubai from 3 to 5 February 2026.

The project involves the construction of 80 social housing units in intended for low-income households, comprising 32 two-room units and 48 three-room units, all equipped with equipment and services of essential infrastructure. This initiative is part of the will of authorities to strengthen the social housing stock and to meet demand increasing in this segment.

According to the official statement, this program aims to promote inclusive economic and social development by improving the conditions of life and well-being of the beneficiary populations. It also aims to contribute to a better quality of life, to more urban development balanced and to a more harmonious distribution of the population over the archipelago.
