A 10-day training course on IFRS standards for accountants and financial managers in private structures ended on 24 December in Lomé.

International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or international accounting standards in French have been the accounting language of reference in the world since 2005. IFRS standards are mandatory for listed companies and allow the harmonization of balance sheets and the improvement of accounting transparency around the world. Indeed, the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) has developed a framework of twenty-four accounting standards known as IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards).

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank encourage the countries in which they operate to increase the use of IPSAS. It should be noted that governments have chosen to draw openly on IPSAS to develop a body of national accounting standards for the public sector in many countries. Togo, for its part, applies some of these standards through the Central Bank of West African States style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif"> (BCEAO).
