The Secretary General of the Prime Minister's Office Minister (SG/PM), through a letter addressed to the President of the Association Cameroonian metallurgical and steel industries (Acimesi), on 19 January 2026, opposes any revision of the concrete iron standard in force in Cameroon.

Acimesi introduced, on November 28, 2025, a Request to the Prime Minister's Office for an amendment of the standard applicable to concrete iron, in a context of internal tensions in the sector, according to correspondence signed by Magloire Séraphin Fouda.

According to the SG/PM, “the revision of the standard requested seems inopportune in the current context of this sector in full expansion, for which the State has granted significant resources in order to sanitation and its structuring”.

L'Acimesi, directed by Mortada Hassan, also boss of Mira Company in the cement sector, would have carried a claim inspired by this operator.

Government rejection comes fifteen months later a major episode: the withdrawal of the certificate of conformity issued to Acero Metal by the Agency for Standards and Quality (Anor). In question, production of a Fe450 concrete iron, deemed not to comply with Cameroonian standards in vigor.
