On Friday, February 6, 2026, the division head of the West African Agriculture division and representative of the institution, Mr. Adama Touré reaffirmed the World Bank's commitment to a sustainable agricultural development in Côte d'Ivoire. It was during a conference organized by the Association of Agricultural Engineers of Côte d'Ivoire (AIACI), at the headquarters of the Interprofessional Fund for Agricultural Research and Advice (FIRCA), in Cocody.

LA Bank global places particular emphasis on environmental and social safeguards in the design and implementation of works on its agricultural projects according to Mr. Adama Touré. For him, although these requirements are sometimes perceived as long or restrictive, they remain, essential to ensure the sustainability of investments. The official recalled that the agricultural sector is the source of about a a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, in particular due to land conversion and deforestation, a situation that remains worrying in Côte d'Ivoire. To this end, he pointed out that nearly 50% of fresh water is stored in trees and soils, making preservation forests and soil health crucial for the environment and for humanity.
