The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) indicates that the cotton campaign that ends in about 13 weeks shows an impressive turnaround. The industry is also expected to perform well compared to the previous season, with areas, production and consumption all on the rise.
Africa would be particularly satisfied, says the ICAC, because after falling by 22%, cotton acreage in West Africa climbed by 44% in 2021/22. Over the entire campaign, the ICAC estimates that the average price, the A index, will be in a range of 109 cents to 129 cents per pound (lb).
