This work will ultimately relieve congestion in the economic megalopolis, in particular the municipalities of Marcory and Treichville.
The Ivorian government, meeting in the Council of Ministers on 24 June, adopted a decree ratifying the loan agreement of 8.1 billion FCFA (12.4 million EUR) concluded on 24 April 2020 with the West African Development Bank, with a view to the partial financing of the consolidation phase of the "boulevard de Marseille" development project in Abidjan.
"This project aims not only to strengthen the structures of existing pavements under traffic, in order to prevent their degradation, but also to improve the sanitation system and intensify the public lighting system," the government said.
Overall, this funding is part of a broader project to improve user traffic conditions in the city of Abidjan and particularly in the municipalities of Marcory and Treichville.
Recall that on June 10, 2020, the Ivorian government had also adopted a decree to ratify a credit agreement of EUR 90 million concluded with the French Development Agency (AFD), for the financing of the Abidjan Urban Mobility Project (PMUA).
