.Exchanges have allowed the two officials to take stock of the state of the mining sector in Africa and to examine mechanisms that could accelerate its development. Discussions focused in particular on the need for strengthen the creation of added value at the local level, to develop human skills and to improve infrastructures dedicated to mining activity, while supporting incubation initiatives, in particular through platforms and industrial areas.
Both parties also emphasized the importance of promoting mining development in accordance with international environmental and social standards, based on the principles of good governance and adapted to the realities and specificities of African countries.
In this context, Leila Benali highlighted the strategic role of the Moroccan corridor, in underlining its structural assets in terms of logistics and industrialization and regional integration. For his part, the Congolese Minister of Mines praised the experience of Morocco, which he described as an inspiring model for the development and implementation of mining policies across the continent.
At the end of the
meeting, the two ministers agreed to work on the development of a
framework agreement for partnership and cooperation in the mining sector, with a view to
strengthen complementarity and collaboration between Morocco and the DRC in
this sector considered strategic for African economic development.
