Just two weeks after the satellite was launched Alsat-3A, Algeria put into orbit on Saturday January 31 of Alsat-3B from the Jiuquan Space Center in northwestern China. The operation was followed from Algiers by Army General Said Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief Staff of the People's National Army (ANP), from the station terrestrial remote sensing.

“I personally congratulate the managers and staff of the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL), as well as the services of the ANP, for the implementation of these projects. I urge them to use the knowledge and experiences acquired to perfectly control these satellites and continue the development of space technologies in Algeria,” said the general Chanegriha at the end of the operation.

Resulting from the cooperation between ASAL and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Alsat-3B completes the constellation National satellite already composed of the Alsat-1B, 1B, 1N, 1N, 2A, 2B and 3A satellites. Endowed with high resolution imaging capabilities, the new spacecraft is intended to national cartography, the development of digital elevation models and to multiple strategic applications, including resource management natural hazards, disaster prevention and environmental monitoring.

The launch of Alsat-3B is also part of a logic to strengthen the country's digital and strategic sovereignty. En producing and exploiting its own spatial data, Algeria is reducing its dependence on foreign sources and consolidates its decision-making autonomy. The Alsat-3 program is an integral part of the National Space Program (PSN), which aims at the structured, peaceful and sustainable use of space, while developing national capabilities in geo-intelligence and telecommunications spatial.
