Three foreign nationals were convicted on the 3rd February 2026 by the Dijon judicial court for customs laundering. La conviction follows a traffic stop conducted a year earlier by the Dijon customs internal surveillance brigade.

The facts date back to January 28, 2025, where Customs officers check a vehicle traveling on the A31 motorway. On board are three individuals claiming to be carrying out a route between Germany and Spain. The search reveals the presence of sums significant cash amounts of 4,095 euros on the first occupant, 6,050 euros on the second and 5,900 euros on the third, without any justification be able to establish its origin.

A small amount of narcotics, several mobile phones as well as a handwritten document suggesting a link to drug trafficking have also been found. Faced with these evidence and the absence of credible explanations as to where the funds came from, agents trigger a procedure to temporarily withhold cash (REAL).

At the end of the legal proceedings, the court Judiciary of Dijon handed down against the three defendants a sentence of six months' suspended prison sentence with an inadmissibility French for a period of three years. Each was also sentenced to a customs fine corresponding to the amounts transported. The 16,045 euros seized, as well as the narcotics found in the vehicle, were completely confiscated.

The case highlights the key role of services customs officials in the fight against financial flows linked to illicit trafficking.
