As part of COP27, the ADB announced its ambition to launch a pilot project in January which involves four banks namely Ecobank Senegal, the National Investment Bank (BNI) of Côte d'Ivoire, CDC Benin and CIB Egypt.

Green banks are local financing instruments that intervene in sustainable projects to solicit private investment, as financing has been the main topic for developing countries, especially in Africa.

In reality, the richest countries in the world decided at COP15 in 2009 to finance these less developed countries to the tune of 100 billion dollars per year between 2020 and 2025. But a small portion of the money has been received. As a result, governments are even more reluctant to finance projects from which they will not directly benefit. For this purpose, Africans want to solve the problem themselves through the green bank rather than waiting for the West to come to Africa's aid.
