The Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) is pushing for a "light" but "rigorous" regulatory framework for the promotion of financial technology (FinTech) companies.

Mr. Tiémoko Meyliet Koné highlighted this during the Governors' Round Table which was the culmination of the International Conference on FinTech held on 30 and 31 October in Dakar.

An idea that the governor of the BCEAO shared with his colleagues from the BEAC (Bank of Central African States), Mauritania, Gambia and Sierra Leone.

Mr. Koné believes that there are important innovations that can bring a lot to our populations for the significant improvement of access to financial services.
