Last Monday, the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, launched in Nouadhibou a strategic project of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Modernization of the Administration (MTNIMA). The objective is to connect Mauritania to a second source of international internet, via the ELLALINK submarine cable.

Mauritania is preparing to strengthen its connectivity with the arrival, in 2028, of the ELLALINK cable. A new landing station will thus be installed in Nouadhibou, allowing the country to have two distinct Internet access points, thus increasing the resilience, national capacity and security of the network. The project is supported by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union. Financed to the tune of 43.5 million euros, the project is distributed according to a budget of between 25.6 million euros for the construction of the infrastructure and 17.9 million for its maintenance over a period

This project also illustrates the strengthening of the partnership between Mauritania and the European Union, paving the way for new opportunities in the fields of innovation, connectivity and sustainable development.
