The first national electronic banking fair in Mali (SAMONAM) opens on Thursday, October 9, 2025 in Bamako. The event that will end Friday, October 10, 2025 will bring together the main players in the sector around issues related to payments electronics in the UEMOA area, in a context of rapid expansion of digital transactions.

The theme: “secure payments Electronics: issues and challenges in the UEMOA” scheduled for the first Salon Mali's national electronic banking system will bring together not only bankers, fintechs, businesses and regulators, but also students and the general public. SAMONAM aims to popularize interbank electronic banking, to promote a dialogue between actors around new technologies and to encourage a wider adoption of electronic payment methods. Their use is part of a global dynamic of economic transformation, with objectives: the reduction of cash circulation, the speed of transactions and the security of transactions.

Noted that the development of electronic banking is also considered in the UEMOA area as a lever for financial inclusion. However, its implementation still faces numerous challenges, such as participants intend to review.

According to la BCEAO , the GIM-UEMOA dashboard reveals that fine By 2023, the electronic banking activity concerned 122 establishments connected to interbank platform on the 128 members of the network. These establishments have issued 8,004,173 bank cards in circulation, 79.2% backed by an account banking and 20.8% prepaid. 96.7% of these cards meet the standards international PCI-DSS security.

Infrastructures have also increased, as the number of Automated Banking Machines (ABMs) increased by 2.26% to 4,214 units, while Terminals of electronic payments (TPE) increased by 10.46%, from 13,814 to 15,259 devices.
