According to the market analysis report of Bloomfield Investment Corporation, a rating agency
pan-African company specializing in credit risk assessment, based in Abidjan, the Regional Stock Exchange
securities (
Brvm ) ended the week of September 09 to 13 down, posting 142.63 points
for the BRVM 10 index (-2.23%) and 148.85 points for the BRVM Composite index (-1.52%).
The market capitalization of the equity market stands at 4,431 billion CFA francs. The transactions
in market value of the shares stood at 1,675 million CFA francs at the end of the week, brought
mainly by the “Public Services” sectors (79%).
The CFAO CI share recorded the largest increase in the market with a gain of 11.25%, while the share
AIR LIQUIDE CI posted the biggest drop with a fall of 12.86%.
On the commodities market, cocoa prices ended the week on the rise (London:
+1.86%; New York: +2.33%) while the downward trend in the price of gold continues (-1.27%).
SICOR ended 2018 with an exponential increase in its net income compared to
the previous year. This was multiplied by more than 9, from 100.6 million FCFA in 2017 to
989.4 million FCFA at the end of 2018, mainly attributable to the recognition of
the cancellation of its tax debt in income excluding ordinary activities amounting to 933 billion FCFA.
However, this development conceals the negative impact of the fall in stored production (-43%) and
the increase in purchases of raw materials (+107%) on the result of ordinary activities (-20%),
despite a good increase in turnover (+26%).
On the stock market, the absence of distribution of dividends for several years contributes to fueling
the downward trend in the price of the SICOR share, which stood at 3,200 FCFA on September 12, 2019, i.e. a
loss of 400 FCFA compared to the start of the year. Thanks to the profitable results recorded
for almost 6 years, the heavy losses of SICOR have been gradually reduced. However, the
resolution of conflicts with local populations as well as the effective implementation of conventions
taken with the State of Côte d'Ivoire will be decisive for the company's performance in the medium and
long term.
