The 8th edition of the International African Textile Show (SITA) took place in Lomé from 4 to 6 November 2022. This edition, which mobilized 33 countries alongside Togo, ended with a cotton night to give priority to several actors who worked to promote African textiles. On the occasion, an honorary distinction was awarded to the Head of State Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, for his commitment to the development of the textile and clothing industry.

“The loincloth industry in Africa: innovation and collective intelligence for the empowerment of women and youth”. This is the theme around which edition 8 of SITA 2022 was focused. It allowed us to consider ways and means to promote the development of African textiles, with a view to creating a textile industry that would bring hope for agriculture and the economy of the continent.

La Nuit du Coton”, which ended the 8th edition of the International African Textile Show (SITA), gave the opportunity to honor certain natural and legal persons who have taken part illustrated in the promotion of African textiles. Thus, an honorary distinction was presented to the President of the Republic, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, for his ambition to make Togo the regional leader in textiles and clothing by 2030.

Togo actually has a new textile industry development policy thanks to its vision adopted for the 2022-2030 period. A policy that aims to establish new cotton fields in order to increase cotton production, which has been falling in recent years. The 9th edition will be held in Guinea Conakry.
