A meeting of the World Cocoa Foundation partners took place in Brussels on 26 and 27 October 2022. But boycott through a bold and unprecedented decision taken by the government and regulators in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.

The boycott of the meeting on 26 and 27 October 2022 is fully supported by farmers, professional farmers' organizations (basic cooperative societies, Unions, and Fé. cooperative federations), small-scale processors, media, and civil society organizations working in the cocoa sector. According to civil society actors, “it is high time for the world to recognize the double standards of the cocoa and chocolate multinationals, especially with regard to the fixing of cocoa prices and the deterioration of the living conditions of cocoa farmers because of their interests and interests. Eacute; egocentric loans and their quest to maximize profits without any desire to distribute profits along the value chain.”

In reality, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana account for 65% of world cocoa production. Nonetheless, farmers in both countries earn less than 6% of total revenue from the chocolate industry, which is valued at around $130 billion per year. Thus, the reasons behind this unfortunate situation are mainly the refusal of the cocoa and chocolate multinationals to pay a fair price for cocoa beans.
