The players in the pineapple value chain met on 17 and 18 October 2022 in Grand-Bassam, 40 km south-east of Abidjan at the invitation of the Compé Value Chains Project Tititives for Employment and Economic Transformation (PCCET) to reflect on the challenges of the sector.

Abidjan wants to achieve the second transformation by highlighting by-products as part of the PCCET. Indeed, a meeting was held between actors in the sector from 17 to 18 of this month to present and validate the results of the exchange mission with the actors and then to analyze in a participatory manner the difficulties and bottlenecks in the pineapple value chain. The meeting between the actors also made it possible to analyze the prospects and the feasible and desirable changes and the obstacles and then the concrete obstacles to change and the role of each actor.

The PCCET teams and industry professionals worked for two weeks on issues such as the availability of plant material, labor, mate Riel Agricole, logistics, access to finance, spatial competition between pineapples and sustainable export crops. Arthur Coulibaly, adviser to the Prime Minister and coordinator of the PCCET, reiterated the will of the Ivorian authorities to revitalize a sector that has long been a benchmark in Côte d'Ivoire at the end of the work. He thus declared “” Ivory Coast was a major producing country. Today, our production is around 50,000 tons while we were at nearly 230,000 tons. The idea is to see how we can gain competitiveness and quality at an international level.”
