The Lagos State Government's partnership with the South-West Agricultural Company on rice production will ensure support for rice farmers to boost production.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 3, 2022, Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashola, Special Advisor to the Governor for Agriculture, noted when signing a memorandum of understanding that Lagos's partnership with the South-West Agricultural Company on rice production ensures that rice farmers are supported to boost production according to its own statement.

According to him, “The MOU is not only vital, but also relevant for the advancement of the rice value chain throughout the state. Lagos needs to produce at least 40% of the paddy needed for the Imota rice mill and to achieve this noble goal, SWAGco will help rice farmers across the state develop their skills and build various capacities.” He added that “Our team and SWAGco will meet with us. rice farmers from various divisions of the state and the 500 hectares of state land in Eggua, Ogun State, as well as other rice fields spread across Lagos will also be used to achieve the goals.
