The Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) in collaboration with the Assembly of Central African Telecommunication Regulators ( Artac) has decided to join hands in order to promote sub-regional integration in both telecommunications and digital technology.

Each Central African country has implemented the component of the subregional telecommunication network interconnection project over the past twenty years. But the centralization of actions is becoming urgent since digital transformation is accelerating and the challenges are of a different type.

During a working session organized in Brazzaville on Thursday 15 September, Michel Niama, the Commissioner in charge of the Cémac Common Market, and Louis-Marc Sakala, General Manager The head of the Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPCE) of Congo, also executive chairman of ARTAC, have reached an agreement. According to Michel Niama, “the actions of ARTAC, at the subregional level, go hand in hand with the noble ambitions of our heads of State, who would like to build an integrated space for the subregion. This integration should take place with the various means of communication available, and for us ARTAC becomes one of the main levers for which we must combine our efforts together to enable our subregion to accelerate its development process.”

Louis-Marc Sakala, for his part, wishes to collaborate more closely with Cemac as a specialized telecommunications institution, a technical arm in which the greater community& Economic and monetary; can rely on telecoms-related issues and many others.
