About 72 hours ago, Synamci issued a strike call that is being widely followed in Abidjan. Thus, for the second time after June 2022, operators from Yopougon to Cocody do not make any deposits or withdrawals of money via mobile phones.

The reason for this strike is the reduction of the profit margin among small operators. Indeed, since the adoption of Orange, the newest addition to the market, the American start-up Wave has been operating at a rate of 1% of transfer fees. A rate that benefits customers but is a nightmare for point of sale operators.

However, it is clear that there are no voices raised either in the Ministry of the Economy or in the Ministry of Budget, let alone among TV operators mobile telephony. However, mobile transactions have experienced remarkable development in recent years in Côte d'Ivoire. At the end of 2020, there were approximately 35,000 billion CFA francs in transactions in the UEMOA zone.

For its part, the National Syndicate of Owners of Mobile Money Points of Sale (Synam-Ci) believes that if nothing is done to save this sector, which contributes to the banking of & Eacute; national economy, thousands of young people who will find themselves unemployed.
